Since 2018, WITA has trained over 2,500 law enforcement officers, prosecutors, and judges, in best practices for the prevention, detection, deterrence, investigation, prosecution & adjudication of transnational wildlife crimes.
WITA's co-founders and instructors are expert rangers, investigators, or prosecutors with broad experience in all aspects of combating wildlife trafficking. In addition, most hold degrees in wildlife management or conservation. We have committed our lives, both personally and professionally, to fighting the illegal wildlife trade.
WITA attacks transnational wildlife crime with immersive, scenario-based trainings in
VALUE CHAIN INVESTIGATIONS.
The VCI approach focuses at every level of a trafficking syndicate, and WITA's hand-on style increases comprehension and provides realistic practice.
WITA trainings don't end when the workshop is over. WITA offers continuing support and consultation to all participants. WITA encourages and supports ongoing dialogue and capacity building. Many of the participants have become friends and many cases have been made or strengthened due to connections made at WITA trainings.
The criminal syndicates that are driving much of the transnational wildlife trade are equipped with sophisticated equipment, from communications to counter-surveillance. WITA's trainings not only train participants in the use of the most current investigative tools, this equipment is left with participants at the conclusion of the training.
